Seven ways to engage NED. Flat-fee and retainer rates are published on the practice pages; the full fee schedule and agreement templates are available through the form below.
Flat fee
Productized deliverables — scope agreed in advance — typically delivered in one to ten business days
Fixed price, bounded scope, no hourly billing. All eight services, with prices and turnaround, are listed under Due Diligence
Services.
Retainer
$9,600 per 24-hour block — minimum one block, month to month — covers all consulting services
Covers every NED consulting service, across both practices. Jon Previtali, Nolan Erck, or Meghan Sheedy leads depending on the scope. Retainer engagements are documented by engagement letter or by a Professional Services Agreement with a statement of work.
Hybrid
Flat fee for a defined sub-scope, retainer for follow-on work
For engagements where part of the scope is predictable and part isn’t — a flat-fee line plus a retainer line in one agreement.
Success fee
Tiered by project funding amount for transactions — flat fee for product launches
When NED is on the deal team through closing, funding, or launch. Scales modestly with funding received; floor $4,800, cap $250,000.
Advisory arrangements
Percentage of enterprise, transaction, or capital value
Ongoing access to Jon, Nolan, or Meghan’s expertise, network, and judgment.
Board service
Structured to fit the client’s existing approach
Available for board seats at established and early-stage companies — compensation in equity, cash, or a combination.
Travel and expenses
Reimbursed at cost plus per diem
Airfare at cost; business class for six or more hours each way. Per diem covers lodging, meals, and incidentals at urban and non-urban rates, domestically and internationally.

Flat-fee services ordered online are governed by NED’s Service Terms, which includes a mutual confidentiality agreement — no separate NDA is required, and a copy comes with the receipt. Consulting and retainer work starts with a no-charge consultation, then an engagement letter; ongoing relationships use a Professional Services Agreement with individual SOWs. We will also work from your own NDA or vendor forms.
